If you thought the new year was starting slowly in the truck world then think again. Huge changes are taking place with the end of an era as International Trucks Australia confirms that truck production will end at Dandenong in October. In its place will be a new joint venture between Navistar and Caterpillar with production shifting to Tullamarine and CAT distributors taking on the sales role in place of the traditional International dealer group. Meanwhile, Iveco gets a new focus and a new direction. Over at Detroit Diesel plans are in place to preview the new Detroit Diesel DD15 and DD13 in Australia, prior to their introduction in new Freightliner products at the end of the year or in early 2011. Changes also at Freightliner see the option of the Coronado truck range heading this way. Want to know more? It’s all in the February issue.
